Liberty donates school supplies through its Back to School Drive campaign
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, August 27, 2026 – Two nonprofit organizations in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) received school supply items donated by Liberty employees and customers as part of the company’s Back to School Drive campaign. About 525 articles were distributed in St. Thomas while 400 were given out in St. Croix, for a total of 925 items. These were distributed by Liberty VI store employees.

The school supply drive supports children and youth participating in afterschool programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Thomas/ St. John, in addition to Caribbean Centers for Boys & Girls of the Virgin Islands, which operates centers in St. Croix and St. Thomas.
“We are truly grateful for this timely donation because it enables us to support our academic programs, especially now that we begin a new school year,” said Chinue Uecker, president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Thomas/St. John. “As our slogan says, great futures start here, and an investment in our children, like this donation, is an investment in their future.”
Besides the school supply drive, the Liberty VI volunteer team distributed 800 backpacks alongside representatives from SkyCity, a public-private partnership that seeks to modernize airports in the territory.

“Each island had its own event, and our team was there to make it special,” said Catherine Kling, general manager of Liberty VI. “Being able to connect with the communities that we serve through volunteer opportunities such as this makes our work in the territory even more meaningful.”
From August 1 to 15, company employees and customers brought school supplies to Liberty stores in Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas, and Sunny Isle in St. Croix. Donations included new materials such as notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, liquid glue, crayons, pens, pencil cases, water bottles, backpacks, sticky notes, highlighters, scissors, folders, loose-leaf paper, erasers, tissues, paper towels, and disinfecting wipes, just to name a few.

“This generous response to our back-to-school campaign shows how big our people’s hearts are. It also confirms what can be achieved when we all -leaders and employees alike- come together to support an initiative that, on this occasion, was carried out in collaboration with all our colleagues from Liberty VI,” said Yadira Valdivia, executive director of Liberty Foundation. “We are very grateful for the generosity of our employees and customers who really got behind this initiative to help these organizations just in time for the start of the new school year.”
Since it was established in 2017, Liberty Foundation has continued to make a positive impact on the lives of children, youth, and adults by supporting nonprofit organizations that provide direct services and opportunities in critical areas such as education, social well-being and health, the arts, and environmental protection.
