Grupo Guayacán and Liberty Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the telecommunications company Liberty Puerto Rico, kick off 2022 with an open call seeking entrepreneurs interested in participating in ‘Conectando tu negocio al éxito’, their new entrepreneurial training program, which will offer mentoring and financial aid to start-up companies throughout the island. This program seeks to promote the innovation and growth of Puerto Rican entrepreneurship to promote the island’s socioeconomic development. The call for applications opens on Tuesday, January 25th; all applicants are invited to complete the online application through the following link: https://bit.ly/conectandotunegocioalexito. Interested entrepreneurs have until Thursday, March 10th to apply.
"This collaboration allows us to expand our program offering and increase our impact by allowing us to provide participating companies with the boost they need to grow their businesses. Through the program we can continue to expand, diversify, and strengthen Puerto Rico's entrepreneurial base, the mission that has guided Guayacán for 25 years. Moreover, this is an ideal opportunity for entrepreneurs who need support in the early stages of their entrepreneurial journey, since it will allow them to focus on growing their business, while also preparing them to participate in other entrepreneurial development programs. It is an honor for us to launch this program alongside Liberty Foundation in order to continue supporting Puerto Rican entrepreneurs together," said Laura Cantero, Executive Director of Grupo Guayacán.
"The main objective of 'Conectando tu negocio al éxito’ is to provide our entrepreneurs with the tools they need to take their businesses to the next level, thus furthering entrepreneurship on the island as a driver of economic development. To achieve this, Grupo Guayacán will provide training, mentoring, and financial support that will enable 100 local business owners to acquire the skills they need to grow and succeed, with the added bonus of impacting economic activity and job creation on the island," said Yadira Valdivia, Executive Director of the Liberty Foundation. The foundation is investing $500,000 in this program, which is part of a broader initiative to bolster projects that promote the socioeconomic development in Puerto Rico, with a total investment of $1,000,000 granted recently by Liberty as part of the company's relaunch.
Through this initiative, Guayacán will offer mentoring and seed capital to 100 businesses that offer products or services in the areas of education, healthcare, and social welfare, arts and culture, and environmental protection, which are the pillars that guide Liberty Foundation’s areas of impact. The program will begin in June 2022, and will consist of 10 entrepreneurial education workshops, technical assistance, mentoring, and an opportunity for participants to win $100,000 in seed capital.
Businesses throughout the island are welcome to apply. To participate, the business must be an original project and have a sales volume of less than $250,000. In addition, it must have at least two employees, which may include the business owner.

Este programa busca promover la innovación y el crecimiento del empresarismo puertorriqueño para impulsar el desarrollo socioeconómico de Puerto Rico. Para lograrlo, el Grupo Guayacán proveerá capacitación, mentoría y apoyo económico que les permitirán a los dueños de 100 negocios locales adquirir las destrezas que hacen falta para crecer y alcanzar el éxito, con el efecto multiplicador que ello tiene en términos de actividad económica y creación de empleos”, dijo por su parte Yadira Valdivia, directora ejecutiva de Liberty Foundation. La fundación está invirtiendo $500,000 en este programa que forma parte de una iniciativa más abarcadora para impulsar proyectos que promueven el desarrollo socioeconómico de la Isla con una inversión total de $1,000,000 otorgada por Liberty recientemente como parte del relanzamiento de la compañía.
Con esta iniciativa, Guayacán ofrecerá acompañamiento y capital semilla a 100 negocios que estén en proceso de desarrollo y que ofrezcan productos o servicios en las áreas de educación, salud y bienestar social, arte y cultura, y protección ambiental, que son los pilares que guían la labor de Liberty Foundation. El programa comenzará en junio del 2022 y consistirá en 10 talleres de capacitación empresarial, asistencia técnica, mentoría y oportunidad para los participantes ganar $100,000 en capital semilla.
Se aceptarán solicitudes de empresas a través de toda la isla. Para participar, la empresa debe ser un proyecto original y tener un volumen de ventas de menos de $250,000. También debe contar con al menos dos empleados, que puede incluir al empresario dueño del proyecto.
